Location: Sampled at Tap NY, 4/27/13

Aroma: The nose has (as was to be expected) a lot of blood orange, with a hint of hop
Appearance: It pours a clearish orange color with a small head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is quite sweet (like the nose) with some balancing hops as well
Palate: The body is fairly light, and this one is quite easy to drink
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid one overall. I liked the use of Blood Orange, though maybe the beer comes out a bit too sweet, I still liked it well enough.

Approximately 2 ounce sample at the Brewery tasting room in Bay Shore, New York. The pour is a hazed yellow golden with a small white head. The aroma is nice fresh wheat, yeast phenols show and a bit of citrus fruit. The taste is the nose, grainy wheat, clove yeast phenols, and nicely manages sweetness from the malt. The palate is medium bodied, active carbonation and a nice dry finish. This is my type of Saison. Of the beers I sampled here, I liked this and the Massive IPA the best.

Approximately 2 ounce sample at the Brewery tasting room in Bay Shore, New York. The pour is a slightly hazy orange golden. The aroma is dry grassy resin, with light honey and some nice pine all balanced against caramel malt. Fresh nose. The taste follows the nose, nice fresh hops (grass, resin, light honey, pine) balanced against a clean caramel toast malt. The palate is medium bodied, clean dry finish. Of the beers I sampled here, I liked this and the Saison the best.

Approximately 2 ounce sample at the Brewery tasting room in Bay Shore, New York. The pour is mostly clear golden orange, with not much of an off white head. The aroma is huge blood orange, almost to the point of a sweet Tang aroma. The taste follows the nose, big Blood Orange fruit, along with some of the hop notes of the straight Pale Ale (mostly the citrus, which could just be more of the Blood Orange). Though this is a bit much on the fruit for me, it was certainly a fun and refreshing beer. I couldn’t certainly see sharing a growler with a group.

Approximately 2 ounce sample at the Brewery tasting room in Bay Shore, New York. The pour is mostly clear golden orange, with a smallish off white head. The aroma is grassy, along with some floral hops and citrus fruit. There is a nice fresh toasted malt present as well. The taste is a nice balance between the hops (grass, floral, citrus) along with the toast malt structure. The palate is medium to light bodied, nice dry finish. My kind of Pale Ale, dry and not overly sweet. Nice.

Approximately 2 ounce sample at the Brewery tasting room in Bay Shore, New York. The pour is a lightly hazed yellow golden. The aroma has some fruit sweetness, a bit of lemon citrus and also has buttery diacetyl. The taste has more sweetness than I was expecting, sort of a general fruit and malt sweet, overpowering the citrus from the nose, and the butter is also present - this note lingers some. The palate is light bodied, decent carbonation.

500 ml stubby bottle purchased at the Brewery in Bay Shore, New York, consumer later that evening at the hotel. The pour is clear golden with a noisy white head that falls quickly. The aroma is straw sweet along with a ligh yeast phenol. The taste is grass, malt sweetness, the yeast character from the nose, and light diacetyl in the finish which muddles the taste a bit. The palate is light bodied, sparkly carbonation with big bubbles, and a slightly buttery finish.

Tap at Bobbique, Patchogue, NY - lightly hazy reddish brown - fairly messy and innocuous in aroma and flavor - moderate sweetness, light spice and moderate buttery diacetyl had me thinking it was an English Strong at first - a bit of toffee and muddled fruitiness - a bit of tang and earthiness, perhaps from the juniper, but it is understated - a bit of rye bitterness/tang and some peppery hops on the tail end - not bad, just kind of there - meh.
