Bottle (brew date 11/11/05): Pours a murky copper/orange color with a thick beige head. Nose is decidedly sweet, with caramel, citrus hops, and toffee. A very wet mouthful with citrus notes, caramel, more sugary sweetness, and a hops bitter tail. There is something of a candylike feel to this ale; I know what you’re thinking and no it’s not like Skittlebrau. A lingering sugar holds on after the hops in the tail. Very different and very tasty. Could it have something to do with the age of this? I don’t know, but I’d certainly have another.

12oz Bottle pours out a ligth copper topped with a off white head. Nice aroma of sweet and a little hop. There was also some wood pretty good I WOOD say. Get it WOOD

Clear deep amber body with a small white head. Sweet caramel and vanilla aroma. Strong vanilla flavor with some light caramel and a bit of a nutty background.

Draught at the Old Dominion Brewhouse in DC. Nothing really special about this beer, which tastes mostly like any regular old lager. Grassy, malt taste. The beer is easy to drink, which is the only real reason why I’d have it again.

Bottle. Vanilla, caramel aromas, with a slightly sweet, caramel flavor. Pretty smooth, and nothing overly offensive about this winter beer.

Bottle. Virtually no head. There was an alcohol aroma, but definitely not as strong smelling as the regular Millennium. It is hard to translate into words about how shocked I am about the aroma and flavor of this beer. It has a rich vanilla and wood aroma, and a fantastic sweet, rich flavor that few beers I have ever had can compare to. This is the best Barley Wine I have ever had.

Pours a nice looking amber color with small, fizzy head. Aroma is sweet with definite spice notes as well. Spices dominate the flavor, woth little of the amber ale taste coming through. Sort of sweet as well. Not complex in the least. Palate is too carbonated. Not a terrible beer, but not worth buying again.

On tap at the brewpub, RBSG 2006. A hazy orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma has light citrus notes on a good malty back ground. The flavor is sweet with light malty notes with a nice amount of citrus. A very refreshing beer with a light body.

On tap at the brewpub, RBSG 2006. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and chocolate - the aroma is surprisingly weak. The flavor is sweet with notes of whiskey, roasted malt, and wood, leading to a dry end where the whiskey lingers around. Compared to other barrel aged beers, I’m disappointed in this one.

On tap at the brewpub, RBSG 2006. A hazy orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet wheaty with light notes of banana. The flavor is perfumated in a weird way - it is more perfumated than wheaty. The end is slightly dry.
