Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.

Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

Draft at McKay’s Public House. Very nice bitter with a good balance of hops and malts. It is clean and crisp as advertised β€” a nice summer beer. Clear copper body with a good-sized off-white head that diminished but didn’t disappear. Hoppy aroma of fruit with floral notes. Some malty grain, lightly toasted, and caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. The finish is moderately bitter. Medium body with a watery texture and lively carbonation. Easy to drink more than one.

Bottle: Deep brown pour with a modest, creamy beige head. Nice thick lacing. Nose is heavy of roasted malts, coffee, and a little cocoa. Creamy mouthful is dominated by the roast with a little coffee and light bitters. Rather enjoyable, yet not real dazzling. Still, nice brew. Thanks to mcox90.

12 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Best before January 2009. Copper colored with a medium head. Aroma is grain and strong blueberries. Wheat, blueberry taste. Slight hop tingle towards the end. It doesn’t taste like hops, it feels like hops.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color, with a light tan head. The aroma is coffee, notes of bitter chocolate, and caramel. The flavor is a nice, pretty smooth chocolate and coffee flavors. It’s relatively sweet, and goes down pretty smooth.
