Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.

Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

Well this was a nice surprise. Very robust - creamy mouthfeel - heavy chocolate and coffee flavors - everything a good porter should be.

re-rate (original 3.6)
Very dark brown colour. Thick light brown head. The aroma is richly nutty and chocolatey, holding a lot of promise. It’s got a full body, very rounded with lots of chocolate, nuts, woody hops and just a hint of roastiness. The finish is quite dry, and with lots of flavour. Highly enjoyable brew.

One of the most unfortunate names I''ve ever come across in the world of beer. Cloudy red-tinged brown; light toast & Mexican drinking chocolate; sweetish chocolatey finish. Not bad, but too simple.

re-rate, May 2008[BR]Kind of a blue-tinted amber colour. The aroma has lots of blueberry. Well-balanced on the palate. Lots of blueberry but also a firm caramelly, earthy maltiness. THe blueberry comes up with a fresh, fruity sweetness at the end that I really like.[BR][BR]Original rate: Orangey-amber candied blueberry, caramel and earthy malt aroma cuminy, musty flavours. I’m sorry for using such an obscure reference, but this tastes exactly like the Karma Co-op food store smells - from the spiderwebs to the flax seed and all that organic stuff - it’s a dead ringer. Interesting stuff, restrained blueberry. 6 3 7 4 14 is equal to 3.4

Bottled. Gift from VENOM. THANKS!
Very dark red. Lingering balsamic honey aroma. Very sweet, very complex and vinuous. Like a fine natural sweet wine. Lovely flvaour, but thick mouthfeel, and I'm glad I've got plenty of friends to share this big bottle with, as a full bottle is too much.

Firm, highly alcoholic body, caramel notes, a lot of honey flavour. This is a stiff drink, folks. A little to mead-like for me, though. That little bit of malty chewiness is lost amidst the sweetness of the honey and sting of the alcohol.
