Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.
Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

Bottle 22oz. Raisin malt and alcohol aroma. Dark reddish-amber color with moderate head. Initially a raisin/dried cherry/caramel malt flavor with a light hops and strong alcohol finish. Malty aftertaste. Wish I had a decent cellar to age this one a bit more.

12 oz. bottle. Rich coffee smell upon opening, close to a stout, if your ask me. Pours dark with garnet highlights at the bottom of my tall tumbler. Head is soda pop fizzy, even sounds like a soda. Burnt coffee aroma gets stronger in the glass. Tastes good, may actually a bit too strong for this style. Earthy and coffee-bitter. Tang of some American hops, but these are not very prominent. RB shows 15 beers with the "clever" name of Coal Porter, and this is the more widely rated, and a pretty good brew to boot.

Bomber from Porterhouse; Nose of clover honey, caramel malts, appley fruitiness, and clovey spiciness; dark copper color with a small off-white head; flavor is mildly sweet with caramel, and some dark fruit notes like a Belgian ale and some alcohol lasting into the finish.

12 oz bottle. Crystal clear copper color (cccc) with weak off white head. Aroma of faint malts, blueberry and tartness. First taste is sweet blueberry then sweet caramel malts then berry tartness and subtle hop hints. The flavors are well balanced with malts and berries. There is an even berry aftertaste that isn’t too tart or too sweet.

No particular aroma. Almost opaque in my steeler stein. Very good on the intake with nice carbonation. Finish leaves something to be desired, such as less lingering bitterness.
