Description
The first document attesting to a brewery in Cazeau is dated 17 october 1753. After 7 generations of family members running the brewery, the brewing ceased in 1969. In 2004, 35 years after the last brewing activities, Laurent Agache, 8th generation family member, started a partnership with his cousin and friend Quentin Mariage, to revitalize the brewery. They renovated the buildings and bought second hand equipment in the North of England. Currently, the brewery offers five beers with great character that are neither filtered nor pasteurized, all of which are refermented in the bottle.

If the brewery is keen on the traditional manufacturing process, it is nevertheless oriented towards innovation through a continuous search for new tastes so that beer aficionados will ever be surprised. At Brasserie de Cazeau, new typified hops, of various origins, are unceasingly tested and mixed in order to obtain beers with original, refined flavours.

Draft at Maduro. Huge off-white foamy head. Hazy orange-amber colored body. Nice Belgian Blonde, on the maltier side. Rather deliciously straightforward. A mild, soapy hop balance. Gentle and creamy. Smooth, awesome beer. Well done.

Bottle from Utobeer. Near black in colour, with a billowy tan head and moderate carbonation. Cofee, dark fruit and chocolate aroma. Full, chunky mouth feel, with dates, more chocolate, roasted malts and a slightly charred, bitter finish. very good.

Bottle. Lots of chocolate in aroma aswell as the taste. Dry finish. This beer is a little boring, but a good compliment to chocolate candy.

Bottle, New Oxford, Salford. A very dark brown, virtually black pour with a minimal off white head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with dark chocalate and dark fruit notes. Similar themes in the flavour which had a strange kind of chalky taste in there too which I’m not too sure I’m keen on. Drying finish. On the whole an above average stout though.

dark chestnut brown with a lively light beige head that lasts a few minutes then reduces to a fine layer with reasonable lacing. aroma of alcohol, caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg. flavor begins with caramel and scotch, then progresses to light spice with cinnamon, then ends with a slightly bitter edge. very nice body, smooth, creamy and full. a nice Christmas beer, worth seeking out. I’d like to find it in a larger bottle and store it for a year or two.

Bottle that I picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium, 31-10-09 consumed 07-11-09 Pours black with a tan head of bubbles. Touch of roastiness on the nose, there is a little vanilla in fact that aroma of vanilla ice cream that you get when you get your ice cream out of the feezer and open the tub. There is some bozzy nuttiness in the mout, its a little cold to start with and is getting much better as it warms up. Its fine. A7 A4 F6 P3 Ov13 3.3
