Crisp clean clear coloured golden coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of pale malt, alcohol, cardboard, sour grapes, metal and very little else. Light-bodied; Very mild malty flavour with some metal, lemons and nothing else except for some bitterness. Aftertaste shows some pungency from metal and some funky flavours at the tail end, but nothing else really comes out except for a herbal note. Overall, a pretty poor offering, and aside from the can from a craft brewery, not any better than most creams out there - this is lacking in almost every dimension. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Trader Joe’s in Falls Church (Bailey’s Crossroads), Virginia on 6-March-2014 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 18-March-2014.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a large, microfoamed light brown head, about three centimetres tall. All with virtually no light getting through at an angle - about 99% opaque - I can’t imagine this looking any better. Aroma of earth, hops, alcohol, prunes, metal, vanilla, medicine and a hint of coffee - not much though. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep assertive roasted malt at first with a noticeable hit of bourbon and oak with some nice sugars behind and showing some depth, all with a bit of coffee bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows a silky malt, some rich coffee flavours and a lot of still pungent sweetness which dominates the finish, along with alcohol. Overall, a beer that is still working out and I wish I left it for another year, but this makes me feel good about aging their other beers. A good beer for sure with a nice profile and great complexity - very nice to sample! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Tyson’s Corner (Falls Church), Virginia on 28-January-2014 for US$9.99 sampled at home in Washington on a day of more snow, 03-March-2014.

I wasn’t going to get this at first because I assumed that "SB" was their SB604, but different style, different beer. Poured a light brown color, mostly translucent, with a slightly off-white head. Aroma was plenty of toasted malts, light caramel malts, not much in the way of hops aside from a mild earthy note. Flavor was mostly very light malt, sweet characters. Very easy to drink, sessionable.

Draft at the brewery. Poured a dark cola brown color with a small light tan head. Aroma was plenty of boozy wood, touch of vanilla, and a variety of muted light fruit, citrus notes. Flavor is woody, plenty of bourbon character in here. Aroma has a lot more booze than the actual flavor, as I was able to sip my way through the entire 12oz? pour they provided in a pretty short time.

Draft at MBK. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium sized creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of snappy herbal, tropical hops, toasted caramel malts, mild earth. The taste is toffee malts with herbal, tropical, lemon and other citrus hop notes. Medium bodied, nicely balanced, lingering bitterness. Nice beer.

12oz can pours a hazy orange with with some thin, creamy, white head. Nose is lemon peel, some herb, a little raw corn, some grass, some wheat chaff, yeasty unbaked white bread. Flavor is alright, sweet, lemon, grass, flower petals, some orange, a little honey. Clean finish. Fine beer.
