Description
Founded in 1784 by Jean Baptiste De Bruin and still a family brewery to this day; known as Brouwerij Schelfaut until 1919, when the name was changed to Brouwerij Bios by Paul Van Steenberge, who became the head of the operation in 1922. Currently operated by his great-grandson Jef Versele (since 1998). Underwent many technical upgrades and expansions since then, most notably in 2017 when new buildings were installed and production capacity was significantly increased.

It was not my favourite beer. The alcool is not well hidden, burning the throat, malt and hop but not well done. 11.10.17, thanks Luigi for this bottle, drinking it at Prélaz, Lausanne.

Bottle from the LCBO Christmas selection. Pours a bice slightly rosey copper, minimal head. Rich thick malt, mildly cloying syrup, booze, some light esters of banana, a vauge mild bitterness on the finish. Really excellent.

Color marrón rojizo, abundantísima corona de espuma beige, firme y compacta como clara de huevo a punto de nieve, dejando gran cantidad de encaje. Aroma con recuerdos a mora, arándanos y "arrop i tallaetes". En boca es ligeramente agridulce, algo ácida, notas de manzana ácida, arándanos y ese ligero regustillo de arrope. Que rica

330 ml bottle. Pours a dull amber with moderate head. Aromas of spicy Belgian yeast, jammy stoned fruit, and bready malts. Flavors follow same with pronounced banana and fruity esters. Quite fruity and doughy for the style, but nice enough and still beats the pants off most North American attempts at a Belgian Tripel.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dull amber with moderate fizzy but retentive head. Aromas of fruity esters, candied citrus, coriander and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional fruity rum, though I may be imagining this… Definitely more tasty the base beer. Very nice.
