Description
Founded in 1784 by Jean Baptiste De Bruin and still a family brewery to this day; known as Brouwerij Schelfaut until 1919, when the name was changed to Brouwerij Bios by Paul Van Steenberge, who became the head of the operation in 1922. Currently operated by his great-grandson Jef Versele (since 1998). Underwent many technical upgrades and expansions since then, most notably in 2017 when new buildings were installed and production capacity was significantly increased.

On tap at Gulden Draak Bierhaus in Prague. Pours murky gold with a white head. Plenty of bubblegum esters, banana, brown sugars on the nose. Flavour is very estery, bananas and bubblegum; some fermented wheat. I am not a fan, this feels very poorly calibrated.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Basically standard Gulden Draak with a surprisingly robust chili burn/flavour. Green chili pepper in the aroma as well. A fun little distraction, though your mileage may vary based on how much you worship the chili!
