The Sampler, Brooklyn growler pour: Pours a pale gold with a wee white head. Aroma is some farmhouse funk, but pretty light. Body is, of course, very light. Nice straw, and a bit of dryness. Unfortunately, my pour was a little wack because of the low carbonation. It was fine nonetheless. Good for drinking in the sun.

Proletariat, NY tap: Pours black with small creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, bit of smoke, and a hint of chocolate. The peatiness of this beer is somewhat unwarranted coming from a true peat smeller such as myself. Taste isn’t too bad. Normal stoutish with just a hint of smoke. Not too impressed.

On tap at ACBF 6/1/2013 Solid black with a long lasting tan head. Wicked lime and citrus aroma and flavor with a solid earthy pepper heat. Odd beer, but I really enjoyed it.

Keg at the Pony Bar UES - NYC. Pours lightly hazy yellow with a fine, white cream head. Mild dry yeast in the aroma, some faint dough, spicy coriander. Restrained flavor, some dry dough, light citrus rind and yeast. Pleasant. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild toasty hay bitterness to finish, some crisp dough, very soft grass. OK but the overall character is a touch flat.

Location: Draft at Tap NY, 4/27/13
Aroma: The nose has roasted malts, lime, chocolate, coffee, and a bit of chili as well
Appearance: This one has a dark brown pour with a brown head and plus lacing
Flavor: The chili and lime worked really well with the roasted malts, and achieved a nice result
Palate: The body is on the lighter side, it has a nice mouthfeel, and a spicy tingle
Overall Impression: This one was up there in the top tier of the beers I tired at the festival because it is both well made and unique. I really enjoyed getting to try this one.

The Bodega, Bushwick tap ($6): Pours golden with white head. Aroma is somewhat nondescript, with mild hops, flowers, and some malt backbone. Taste is barely bitter at all. In fact the hops are hard to even discern. I, at first, thought I was given the wrong beer, but as it turns out, this was the right one. The taste was different from a normal IPA, which I am generally ok with, but this just wasn’t good.

Draft. Clear golden/light amber body. Frothy, off-white head. Aroma of light caramel, toasted grain, floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Clean malts. Slightly tangy finish. Appreciate the flavors in this session beer — and the balance and crispness. Aroma is a little light, but the flavor makes up for it.

Served on draft at Peekskill Brewing. Pours a clear amber color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toasted malts and some faint hoppiness if you really look for it. The taste is toasted malts and herbal hops. Medium bodied.

A hazed blonde saison with a thin white head. In aroma, a perfumey malt with light talcum, cloves and sulfur. In mouth, a light watery malt with light banana and cloves, ashes, short in mouth. On tap at TAP NY, April 28, 2012.
