Cask at Prince of Wales, Farnborough. Vague sour floral aroma. Medium chestnut. Good fluffy off-white head. Surprisingly sweet. Sugar molasses, soft spices (not warming). Light bodied. Watery. A hint of astringency in the finish. Pretty pleasant but not warming, the spices are lacking on that front.

Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. An opaque, peaty brown colour with a fast fading caramel coloured head; aroma of milky coffee; sweet vanilla taste to start, followed by a lactic, coffee flavoured body; then a dry finish with coffee grounds and a touch of chocolate. Nicely balanced.

Cask at Prince of Wales, Farnborough. Sweet citrus and floral aroma. Bright gold. Thin white head. Starts off honey sweet before some hippy bitterness comes through. However the sweetness remains. Light bodied. Soft mouthfeel. Long finish. Was not expectant as it’s a golden ale but I was proven wrong - a thirst quencher.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading at 5% abv. Deep mahogany-brown with a thick beige head and a light fizz. Smooth, chocolatey and oaky. Lots of chocolate actually and a touch of smoke at the back of the throat. Some nuttiness too. A touch of slightly sour liquorice in the aftertaste maybe lets it down a tadge, but nevertheless this is a pretty decent beer. Texture is especially good thanks to the superb condition- well done ’Spoons!
