Hand-pulled cask half-pint on 2nd June 2018 in The Bridge End Inn, Ruabon. Lovely clear dark amber body, clean and clear, on top a white pillow of tight foam. Nice malty front to this traditional English Bitter, some fruity notes to be found in both the aroma and flavour. A very pleasant, easy drinking beer all round.

Cask @ Ashton Arms, Oldham. Reddish-brown with a thick off-white frothy head. Crisp textured with a gritty dark malt character. Its strength is apparent but nothing in the ale ever gets stated.

Wakefield Beer Festival 2016. Black in colour. There’s a slight vanilla influence in its nose, whilst its texture is heavy through a clear strength that produces a sticky-sweet texture for its roasted malts.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - molasses and smoke. A touch of chocolate. Taste - more molasses. Black jack sweets. Honeycomb. Like a dark Crunchie Bar. Roast on the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - nice and complex.
