Description
Back in 2017 the idea was born, how do you fancy starting a brewery! and so it began with some homebrew knowledge we started bang the elephant brewing co, brewing on a grainfather brewing system for the first year, learning whatever we could and gaining feedback from freinds and family along the way, even double brews just to fill one cask to send off to beer festivals and start getting some real feedback.

In 2018 after some great feedback and some good success we decided to ramp up production and see what we could do! renting a 4bbl kit we quickly started to brew cask beer for sale to pubs in the surrounding area and then onto keg.

In 2019 we were presented with an amazing opportunity to move into the abstract jungle brewery and purchase it under the expert turorlidge of Mr Simon King the head brewer which brought us to where we are today.

We really do love what we do, thats why we always set out to make this our day job, we may have not reached that point yet, but its coming.

Cask @ Playhouse Bar, Norwich. Hazy dark golden with a small head. Slightly dense in its texture, this seems to have a subduing effect on its obvious tropical fruit notes, and in aroma too.

Keg at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden. Aroma is spot on!. Blueberry, lemon and sweet custard. Clear gold - not custard coloured - with a think foamy head. Initial bitter lemon and Blueberry hit, followed by full-on custard. It's bitter throughout but the custard then provides a counterbalance. Thick bodied. Creamy. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Can see why the staff said this was a Marmite beer... different... but I like it. Wouldn't want a trifle with so much bitterness though.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 02/12/24. Moderately hazed orange to light amber topped with an off white cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is orange zest, grass, ripe melon, grapefruit, papaya. Taste comprises orange peel, melon, grass, papaya, mandarin, sweet malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close Okay easy drinking DIPA if perhaps a little sweet and lacking bitterness and not one I'd revisit.

Large sample on 26th November 2024 at the Pheasant Inn and Brewhouse. Hand pulled, black bodied, big tanned topping, looked good. Very sweet with caramel and toffee to the fore, too sickly for me, so didn't have a pint.

Can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin but smooth pale malts, a decent creamy sweetness. Cooling pine hops into slightly ripe and slightly pithy citrus. Brighter citrus on the back end along with a little tropical fruits. Airy finish brings very mild skunk. A grower, not convinced on the first few gobfulls but enjoyed it in the end.

Handpull cask at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Light to mid-gold, hazy with a small white head. Light aroma, honeyed and a little bit toasty. Sweet taste, some malty notes, toffee, with light hoppy bitterness in the second half of the sip. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Very basic stuff from a great brewery.
