Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

Hazy and pinkish. A bit fruity, nice yeasty complexity with a dry, tart, woody character. The grapes are nice in this one. They lend a fun sweetness in the finish, but also carry that nice yeastiness and a dry, firm biscuity maltiness. Pretty tasty stuff.

Cloudy, straw. Not much head. On the nose, this is fruity, gotta think there's a bit of brett in there. Fruity, yeasty...lots of fun. Very soft malts, and berries. Delicate beer that is also full of flavour.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy peachy golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with a lactose-like milky character, dry floral hops, tropical fruits and lots of pith. Flavour is quite tart, with lots of lacto, floral dry hopping, heaps tropical fruitiness, some moderate acidity, and ample tartness. Very fruity, lacto-y and tart. Unusual, but solid.

375mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a hazy blonde with a large white head. Nose brings out a nice saison yeast character, with some farmhouse notes, and dry crackery malt - smells quite authentic. Flavour follows accordingly, bringing out the saison yeast very nicely, with lots of rustic farmhouse notes. Very dry, with a crisp crackery malt finish. Now this is how you make a saison. Very good.
