Handpump cask at Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours black-brown with a frothy, khaki head. Somewhat restrained aroma, just nips of cocoa, maybe a little rubber. Light sweet flavour, with ashy dryness, some burnt earth and rubber, old berries. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with some burnt toast, burnt crackers, maybe hints of pine, more dry cocoa. Not bad.

ABV: 3.7%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, cookie, bread, pale malt, caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, pale malt, cookie, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171207]

Cask at the 'Oddies', Colchester. Pours pale gold with a modest white head. Aroma is well hopped, floral, citrus and grassy. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Bitter floral finish. Decent brew.

From cask at the Purple Dog winter beers festival, Colchester. Pours very dark brown with no head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, light spice, dark fruits and is ever so slightly smoky. Medium plus sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily and watery texture, minimal carbonation. Took a few moments to appreciate this one, but it's actually a pretty decent dark old ale.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Light haze on this amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, fairly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Thin malts. Harshly bitter orange peel and citric peel. Bitter finish. Quite harsh.
