Cask at the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Very dark brown and barely translucent. Flat, no head, no lacing. Coffee and vinegar (ok may not be in the best condition) but the taste makes up for it. A gentle espresso bitterness underpins the Malteaser sweetness. Palate is okay (nice body but again too flat). If this had more life to it the rating would be much higher. Still, decent.

Cask @ Dirty Dicks, Halifax. Extremely dark with a thick creamy off-white head. It’s a very easy drinking stout with a smoothish texture that slips down the palate well. There’s roasted malt in both aroma and taste with plenty of coffee notes in both aspects that make it quite a tasty brew.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, bubbly pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry with decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, trace of dark toffee. Bitterish esters leads to a bitter floral hop. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Bitter linger. Not bad.
