Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, weβre always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe ππ½
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

(Draught at Oedipus Brewery Tap, Amsterdam, 7 May 2022) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, dough, grass and herbal hops. Malty, taste with bread, grass, herbs, dough and a mild herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain malt sweetness. Really tasty and well balanced kellerbier. Nice one.

(Draught at Oedipus Brewery Tap, Amsterdam, 7 May 2022) Pale golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with lemon, gooseberries, green grapes, apples and some bread. Fruity, tart taste with notes of lemon, grapes, gooseberries, bread and a dry and tart finish with hardly any bitterness. Medium body, dry. Tasty and refreshing, more sour than lager. Nice one.

Bottle. Color: Clear pale golgen, fast disappearing white head. Aroma: Grape, vinuous, malty, tart, funky. Taste: Farm- and wet dog-like funk, red and white grape, grapeskin. Some oak wood too and hints of hay. Moderate tart, light sweetness. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Quite carbonated for this style. Always a pleasure to taste a new Oedipus wild ale experiment, although this one just as Gigetta (which is pretty the same) is not one of their highest rated in my case.

Listed as a sour porter in the booklet, and as oud bruin on the board. The latter seems more correct. Low carbed, sour, very oaky, some vinegar, and pretty vinous. Lovely soft sourness, no pucker or harshness. Real complex. Good!
