Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, weβre always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe ππ½
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

On a freaking hot Summer night. Pours a light hazy golden yellow colour and a white head with a tiny layer retention. Aroma's: fruity, sourish, a bit caramel malt and a hint of smoke? Retronasal it's light sweetish. light sourish, a bit caramel and again a hint of smoke. Flavour is light sweet, caramellish, and light fruity sour. Light bodied. Firm carbonation. Finishes with a hint of caramel and light bitter. Refreshing.

I know, I know, this was not a beer to cellar, but it happened anyway. After 2 years this pours a somewhat hazy deeo golden colour and a frothy off white head with good retention. Aroma's are sourish, dark malts, light raisin. Sourish, slightly oxidized retronasal. Flavour is light fruity sour, la hint of bitter. High carbonation. Medium bodied. Finish is dry, moderate bitter. Too old, still, not bad.

[33cl bottle from Beer52.] An opaque black pour with a thin beige head; tarry aroma; tasting of deeply roasted grains, but also rather sweet; then tar and sweaty leather to finish. A bit of a wake up stout.
