Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽

Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Bottle. Color: Hazy murky reddish brown, brownish pink head. Aroma: Mix of fruity, herbal, floral and earthy notes. Bit moldy. Taste: Fruity notes of elderberries, wood, floral, earthy and herbal notes. Bit musty mushroom notes. Funky hints. Moderate sweet, slightly tart and moderate to over moderate bitterness. Most bitterness from the elderberries and not from the hop, I think. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Quite weird stuff, not the best aroma taste is in some way quite likeable.

Pours a deep golden to amber colour and a rocky off white head, a small layer retention. Aroma's of malts, fruity, a little dusty. Retronasal follows this. Flavour is light moderate sweet with some fruit and a hint of bitterness. Light bodied but certainly not thin. Light bitter finish. True to the style. These guys are getting good at it.

The cork pushes itself out of the bottle, but slowly. Brett funk aroma's upon opening. Pours a light hazy pale yellow colour and a white head with little retention. Brett-funk from the glass (manure notably, with light sourness. Retronasal there is less funk, more lemon, a little grain, light sourness. Flavour is mildly sour, lemony, a bit yoghurt. Light bodied, sparkling carbonation. On this first spring day this is quite pleasant.
