Cask at the 28th Ealing Beer Festival. Pours clear amber brown with a lasting bubbly white head. Aroma is well hopped with citrus, resin, and malt. Moderate sweetness and medium plus bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is dry, bitter and fruity. Good beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Grosvenor, Hanwell 20/5/2017. Hazy gold with a slight, white, head. A touch of grassy hop, lemon and tangerine fruits, grainy malts and a hint of spice, before a gentle finish. Fine.

Cask at the Bootlegger, HW, 03/06/17. Light golden yellow with a decent off white head. Nose is straw, lemon drizzle, faint peach esters, grains, bread dough. Taste comprises wheaten bread, straw, melon, tangerine, lemon rind. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close with light grassy hops. Fine for the style but nothing I’d choose to revisit.

Cask gravity at the Berko beer fest. A mid copper red coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is nice rustic malts, nutty, light brown sugars, light twig. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, hint of smoke, light grassy earthy hop. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, decent cask condition. Good.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. A pale caramel coloured pour with a loose white head; malty aroma; rather thin in the mouth with a sweet malty taste and a light floral bitterness; then a sweet biscuity finish. Very drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Grosvenor, Hanwell October 2016. Deep amber in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Nicely balanced beer, with included sweet, slightly bready, malts with citrus hops and tangerine fruits. Finish was dry and pleasant. A very good beer.

Handpull cask at the Alexandra Arms, Kettering. A lovely dark gold, clear, with considerable lacing. Malty scent but faint peach/apricot and hay can be detected. Taste is a bit muddled: malty and apricotty sweetness is beaten back by a fairly aggressive astringency. The latter wins out in the long finish but there are still stone. Fruit notes lingering on the back of the tongue. Has its moments but I’m not terribly keen.
