Bottle shared in London - big thanks to the Aussie! Pours black-brown with a creamy tan head. Tangy dark malt nose, some dark berries, burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor, some milk chocolate, wet earth, burnt wood. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet to finish, more burnt wood, charred malts, muddy earth. Fair.

@Local Taphouse, Sydney. Dark brown. Toasty, rich, aroma is fairly heavy on the roast character. Sweet overall, but quite a bit of complexity and a surprising array of richness for a 7.9% brew.

From a 330ml bottle on 4/10/2013 (labelled ’Hefeweizen’ rather than ’Wheat Beer’). Pours a cloudy straw with very little head. The aroma features some clove, spice and some earthy yeast. The flavour is fairly typical for a hefe, with banana, clove, some spicy notes and a touch of lemon. Has a medium body and lively carbonation. Okay but far from inspiring.
