Bottle shared in London - big thanks to the Aussie! Pours black-brown with a creamy tan head. Tangy dark malt nose, some dark berries, burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor, some milk chocolate, wet earth, burnt wood. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet to finish, more burnt wood, charred malts, muddy earth. Fair.

@Local Taphouse, Sydney. Dark brown. Toasty, rich, aroma is fairly heavy on the roast character. Sweet overall, but quite a bit of complexity and a surprising array of richness for a 7.9% brew.

Had this at Mountain Goat. Dark brown, rich bitterness, good earthy, choc, chewy character. Very tasty, could drink a lot of this.

From a 330ml bottle on 4/10/2013 (labelled ’Hefeweizen’ rather than ’Wheat Beer’). Pours a cloudy straw with very little head. The aroma features some clove, spice and some earthy yeast. The flavour is fairly typical for a hefe, with banana, clove, some spicy notes and a touch of lemon. Has a medium body and lively carbonation. Okay but far from inspiring.

Bottled 33 cl, stubbie, after the brewery tour at Moorilla Estate Brewery, Winery, and Gallery, Hobart, on August 9, 2013.In the tasting bar, after nagging them to finally look enough for it to find it.2010 vintage, bottle 0593/2500. Marked 8.0% ABV.They couldn’t find the 2011 vintage, I was happy for the 2010 though! $25 a bottle.Clear black color, some dark red and brown hints. Brown head. Sweet, coconut, vanilla, roasted, nice scent. Sweet, alcohol, grainy, roasted, coffee taste. Coffee aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.Very nice, one of the best beers I had on my 5 week trip in Oz, so happy I kept bothering the staff until they located one for me. Kept well with age too.
