Aroma of malt, caramel, dark fruits, hint of liquorice, hint of hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Better than most mega-sweet winter beers.

Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, nuts, bread, sweet dark fruits, some chocolate notes. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a light to moderate bitter finish. Not a bad beer but the brewer was out of his mind when he named this "Dark Saison". As such, extremely disappointing.

Brewed exclusively for Restaurant De Haas in Elburg. Aroma of bready malt, strong floral notes, hint of caramel, hint of fruits, some hoppy notes. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a light to moderate bitter finish. Supposedly based on a recently discovered 200-yeard old recipe. Either way, it’s a decent beer.

Bottle from Kisjes Slijterijen, Meppel. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, raisins, mild roast, touch of dark fruits. Flavour is moderate sweet and above moderate bitter with a bittersweet finish. Body is medium. Surprisingly decent Bock, not as sweet and fairly bitter for the style.

Bottle at home. Aroma of malt, caramel, raisins, hint of roast, some fruity notes. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a nice moderate bitter finish. Body is medium. Brewed with Centennial, which accounts for the fresh bitterness. Not being a fan of overly sweet Bocks, I enjoyed this one.

Aroma of malt, bread, caramel, raisins, some dark fruits. Flavour is malty, sweet caramel, but not that sweet for a Dunkler Bock. Instead, it’s got a nice bitter finish.
