Draught at the brewery, 8/11/16.
Hazy, golden-light-amber body is topped by a white head showing moderate retention.
Big honey malt character displays another of their (golden promise/maris otter) malted DIPAs. Unfortunately, there are significantly less hop notes in this than in the similar Dad Pun. Just a ton of malt sweetness, breadiness, vanilla, honey, graham cracker...No alcohol and I guess some vaguely fruity, lightly citric hop notes.
In the mouth it’s very sweet, soggy almost and massively underhopped. Low on bitterness, with vague grapefruit, marmalade and apple/strawberry character. Very soft, malty texture with engaging carbonation, but just no where near the balance needed.

Hazy, peachy-amber with bright golden hues and an off-white head that steadily fades to cover.
Fruity esters and fruity hops combine in the nose to balance and strong honey-caramel-like maltiness. Seems quite british, albeit a lot more malty and rich than any ESB I’ve ever had. Some nuttiness, lots of random red fruits from the yeast and a good deal of bread (and light dough). No alcohol or flaw.
Sweet, in the mouth, with a stiff caramel-honey character that shows moderate attenuation and a big body. Hops add citrus and lots of bitterness, as breadiness and peachy-apple esters collect on the finish. Rather forceful, a bit sweeter/richer than my palate could take and though they aren’t overly grapefruity/piney, the hops still add a lot of fatiguing bitterness. Very strange beer, not sure what the inspiration for this one was...

Cask at GBBF 2016, Olympia, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, bitter chocolate aroma. Tastes quite similar, roasty, malty, bitter chocolate. Decent porter from Mystic.

750mL undated, drunk 8/3/16.
Hazy, near-cloudy, dull-brass-golden body is topped by a very large, off-white head that shows very strong retention for a gose.
Tons of coriander in the nose, but the spicy character is all you get, with no astringency, that being blanketed/softened by the big salinity and juicy juniper. Almost a bubble gum-like character to the nose, though I think that’s just the mix of the adjuncts. Soft grains, honey, biscuit, white bread and such all prevalent in the aroma with a very mild lactic character. I like that it’s mostly about the yeast, malt and adjuncts here, not the lactic addition. Big minerality with light coriander and fruitiness lingering. No alcohol or flaw.
Very salty in the mouth, with the salt rounding/softening the beer and removing any potential bite from acid, be it juniper, coriander or lactic-derived. Seems very full, with the tight, fine carbonation additionally contributing to its perceived fullness. Moderate spiciness on the back-end, with honey, sweet sponge cake and easygoing yellow fruits/bubble gum. Saltiness lingering. The full, salty texture coupled with the sweet malts do get a bit much after a while, but it’s certainly unique and not your average half-assed American gose. A stronger dryness would really make this exquisite.

Draught at Row 34, 7/14/16.
Light copper-golden with softer hay/flax hues. Light haziness and a small white head atop showing medium retention.
Very funky, dank, spicy, green, marajuana-esque nose. Not sure what’s in here, but smells like some combination of mosaic and motueka, among others. Almost like tea tree oil, with peach, wet leaves and light pine. Biscuity malts in the background slowly surge forth adding more and more honey until it even takes on a slight sweet marmalade character from the nose (I believe it’s 100% maris otter malted). But it doesn’t come off too malty, thankfully.
In the flavor, the oily, dank, lemony-citric notes continue with more dry leaf, wood and orange zest oil. Sweetness does just enough to balance without getting dominant or fatiguing the palate. Low but tight carbonation. Weird and experimental and oddly good.

750mL bottle, 2016 date (getting a little lazy with the bottling dates....), drunk 6/25/16.
Huge, snow white head showing fantastic retention tops a classic, golden-blonde-honey colored body with plentiful tiny bubbles and a high clarity.
Continuing the strong impression, the nose is shockingly aromatic yet still reserved and classy/charming. There’s no big oakiness and only a touch of white wine character, adding minerality and stone fruit. By far the best part of the nose is the very traditional saison yeast, creating yellow fruit esters, white pepper phenols and very light cellar impressions. Not exactly mimicking any of the classic houses, but still reserved and elegant in its own right (I guess it’s still closest to Dupont though without any rubber band and much less black pepper). Malts throw vast amounts of succulent honey and vanilla-cream to balance and there’s a faint woodiness lingering on the end as well. Wow.
The flavor continues with strong honey and vanilla-like maltiness and a pillowy-soft malt texture with tight carbonation. Neutral wood tannins add dryness and light wine notes add stonefruit and mineral as they do in the nose. Fruity esters are stronger in flavor, adding strong nectarine and moderate peach character, though it never comes across messy/hot/harsh. Just a shade too sweet overall, though it’s incredibly young. I expect this one to be absolutely divine in about 6 months, though I think it was a very small batch with bottles going fast. As is, it’s extremely impressive and makes me wonder why their basic saison renaud is such a letdown in comparison (or maybe I just need to try a recent batch).

Bottle shared on Sander’s Stag. Pours unclear yellow-gold with a creamy, white head. The nose has pale grains, light dough, lemon, faint apple. Medium sweet flavour with rounded pale, bready character, subtle bitter hay, citrus peel, dough, mellow phenolic spice. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Decent balance on the finish, some dough, pale wheat bread, hay, biscuit, lemon peel, slight tartness. Good stuff.
