BCA from My Favourite Beers, Cheltenham, 11.02.12 consumed Sunday 12th Feb 2012 at home. Pours hazy amber with a very slight orangey/reddy hue. The nose is a little woodland like with some fresh berries and wet wood combining. As the description suggests this is tart and tangy with some zappy hedgerow fruits, this then quickly dries out in the mouth leaving a light bitterness and yeastiness. Its actually really quite decent and if I tried this blind I may have felt that this was Belgian. Good stuff. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.6

Bottle. Almomst black in colour with a decent, tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate with a hint of warmth and roastiness. Flavour had plenty more chocolate, with some prickly chilli warmth kicking in at the finish. Subtle and enjoyable.

Bottle 500ml. @ chriso [ oh6gdx birthday bash tasting ].Clear dark black brown colour with a small to average, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate malt, alcohol, whisky. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet berry, sugary, dark malt, buzzy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111203]

Cask at the Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Clear darkish amber beer. A little suddy pale tan head. Light dry palate. Light malty base. okay tangy dried fruit hops. Quite a bitter finish. Not bad but the brewery can do much more exciting beers than this.

Bottle. Opaque black in colour with a decent, frothy tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, a whiff of charcoal and some raspberry fruit. Flavour had plenty of chocolate sweetness before some lingering, tart raspberries culminating in a gently dry finish. Excellent.

Bottle. Jet black with a slight tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, plain chocolate and bitter orange. Flavour had plenty of chocolate upfront and some supporting sweetness, before orange took over, with slightly oily notes and a dry finish. Very enjoyable.

Aroma - Strongly hopped....oranges..tropical fruits...citrus...sweet golden malts...sweet aromas...juicy fruit
Taste - Sweet candy malts...caramelised oranges...light bitter resinous hops..grassy hops...not quite as good as the aroma
Palate - Medium carb...sticky oily texture...citrus tangy. Finish - bitter resin hops..sweet malts...same as main flavour

Bottle directly from the Bristol Beer Factory, Bristol, consumed at home 29.01.12 Pours dark, dark brown with a small filminess the head (what there was of it) soon disappeared. Little bit of meatiness, some Oxo, its good for not being sweet or to cloying, and with that in mind it reminds me a little of something like a Harveys Imperial Stout though with the greatest of respect to this decent beer it is not quite in that league. I don’t get too much of the dried fruitiness but I do get a slight sauciness and touch of salt. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
