16oz can from Bier Cellar. Hazy yellow pour with a small white frothy head. Fruity aroma, part tropical, part citrus, light vanilla. Citrus pops out in the taste, pineapple, grapefruit. Lactose is hard to find. Sweet, juicy, zesty, dry.

Can (9/27/21) pour from trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! It's a clear amber with nasty huge floaties (like too much fish food in a tank), trace sparkle, finger-width beige head with good retention and tons of soapy lacing. Aroma is nice mix of rye and sweet fruit. Taste is strong rye, caramel, light fruit and resin. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, lively carbonation and crisp, bitter and grainy finish. Overall, nice balance and use of the rye.

16 oz. can. Canned on: 09-27-21. Aroma shows week rye green. Flavor is moderately balanced with rye grain and a soft undefined hop. The positive thing here is extremely balanced. Decent.

Draught at Craft. Dark red colour with small tan head. Aroma is dark fruits, bit of cat pee hops, bit jammy, and a bit medicinal. Taste is quite spiky, slight bitterness and quite full on herbal element. Touch of cough medicine. Bit of a strange one.

Draught at the brewery, 7/8/18.
Light golden with deeper maize hues. Small, white head sits at cover. Clear.
Grainy biscuit with soft cornflower, light vanilla and peppery herbs. Not too rich and overly malty, as I'd expect from a 7% maibock, but more Helles-like.
Great herbal bitterness in the mouth with a strong dryness from a very high attenuation. Good and drinkable, but slightly grainy and just not malty enough for the style, or at least for 7% abv if nothing else. Finishes with light corn, honey and vanilla and soft, floral hops. Clean, low but engaging carbonation and no alcohol noted.

Draught at Three Tides, 7/8/18.
Peachy gold to rusty copper. Dense, heavy cream-like head showing strong retention. Good clarity.
Vanilla, cream, biscuit and strong cereal show a plethora of pale malt intricacies. Yellow fruit from the plentiful ester yet not alcohol noted (probably soaked up by all of this malt).
In the mouth it's sweet, yet perfectly attenuated for its size. Corn, cereal, vanilla, biscuit and even some raspberry-like character as the esters mix with the alcohol. Great and enjoyable, but why is this 10%??? Tastes like 5 or 6% so I would want it to be 5 or 6%. Marshall Wharf is one of my favorite breweries, but I fail to understand their fascination with super high gravity beers that are disguised as mid/low gravity. It's impressive to be able to hide all that booze, but what is it accomplishing???

Draught at the brewery, 6/17/18.
Dark brown-mahogany. Probably clear? Can't tell. Well-retained, light tan head atop.
Nose is richly salty mineral, light coffee and hints of anise with long and dry, dark chocolate lingering. Soft and even for a stout with no punchy roast. No alcohol or flaw, moderate fruitiness.
Soft, dry, malty with light caramel and dark chocolate in the mouth. Very light hints of salted char deepen complexity. Fruity coffee-like roast and lots of dark chocolate through the middle with hints of raisin and vanilla. Quite a bit going on here for its size. Highly flavorful, balanced and clean with a good attenuation, engaging carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. Wonderful stout, as always. They really can do no wrong with dark beers.

22oz bottled 12/20/2010, bottle # 325, drunk 12/23/17.
Pours a clear, burnt-caramel-highlighted mahogany. Beige head fades to ring, but still shows plentiful carbonation.
Nose is vinous, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, spicy bourbon, black pepper and a hint of peat-like brine.
Flavor is a near-perfect hint of butter toffee-pecan with rich, long, dry caramel, mixed with dry smoke and hints of tar. Bourbon spice adds to the complexity while cutting the texture to add some levity. Tight, low, perfect carbonation and malt texture. Plentiful wood tannin and oak toast on the end, mixing with sweet caramel for balance. Really f-in good! Bourbon spice, rich, malty texture, heavy black pepper, tar and soft, dry smoke. Truly mind-blowing that this is 10 years old. Well-brewed beer ages well, as it turns out.

Draught at MW's 10th anniversary, 10/14/17.
Bright auburn-amber, good clarity, with a dark beige head atop showing moderate retention.
Not heavy sherry in the nose, though there is a bit of white pepper, oxidation and light earth. Hops are light at this point, with only grass, orange rind and very light grapefruit. Tons of caramel with lots of bread, earth, biscuit and other various malts. Some red/yellow fruit from the yeast/barrel, as well. Alcohol is light, but apparent, with no flaw.
In the mouth it's soft, very malty, with lower attenuation than most of their beers, though the extra time in barrel was quite beneficial, especially with the sherry which helps dry it out with all the peppery earth and nutty notes it provides. Low but engaging carbonation, very light citrus from the hops and just a bit of warming from the alcohol, on the finish. Lingering esters, sherry and complex malt character. Nice!

Draught at their 10th Anniversary, 10/14/17.
Dark ebony, undetermined clarity, with a medium-sized, tan head showing good retention.
Bourbon is front-and-center, though I wouldn't call it overdone. Spicy, rich, poignant and yet not too heavy on the toasted coconut/pineapple aspect, thankfully. Lots of dark chocolate, caramel and vanilla behind it, with lingering dark fruit, alcohol/ester and spicy bourbon notes.
Rich, thick and yet well-attenuated as all their beers tend to be. Choco-vanilla is strong and drying through the middle with big bursts of oak and spicy bourbon. Good balance achieved with sweet caramel and milk chocolate. Very nice and not too boozy (though of course, there certainly is some warming and light alcohol on the finish).
