Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 25th December 2010. Copper with a thin ring of off-white foam. Thick, rich pungent earthy aroma, with all these attributes amplified in-mouth.. Alcohol taste surfaces when drinking fast. Citric tang and flavour profile not dissimilar to BrewDog. Rich, pungent aftertaste on a slightly viscous and clingy but engaging mouthfeel.

Bottled. Clear amber color, short head. Aroma of pine and grapefruit. Hint of medicine (which is most likely the immense amount of hops). Good bitter taste. Very nice IIPA from England!

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 4th December 2010. Thick black with meniscus head of rich pale-brown foam. Rich, pungent aroma. Thickly fruity in-mouth with spices, Christmas pudding/mince pies and winter berries. Spicy and herby late-on and a bitter finish rounded by thick fruitcake and caramel. Fascinating ale, well crafted, lovely for supping by the fire while the snow is falling outside. 7-4-8-4-17 Re-rating December 2024: Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 8th December 2024. Solid sepia black with tan foam and partial lacing. Richly roasty aroma with savoury notes and spiced unripe fruits. Dark chocolate, coffee and spices in-mouth with a hint of smoke and pepper. LIVE RATING: Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 29th November 2010. Handsomely black with rich pale-brown head of foam giving some lacing. Very fruity aroma with berry bouquet and a floral hop accompaniment. The in-mouth experience is exquisite. Grassy hoppiness, berry fruits and a good grounding of roasted malts. These all working side by side without clashing, an amazing feat by the brewer. The next thrill is the rich, bitter finish giving pleanty of whole-mouth flavour and lasting a satisfying time. The brewer says this beer is only available for limited periods, GO for it when you see it!

LIVE RATING. Cask at Southampton Arms, London on 29 November 2010. Sandy gold with part-lacing white thin foamhead. Hoppy cheesy nose; beautifully hoppy in-mouth: grassy and bitter hempy hoppiness in generous supply. A fruity back-taste comprises berries and citrus, and a developing bitter finish builds depth and length with continued drinking. But for its 4.1 ABV rating it would make an ideal session ale. I loved it.
