500ml bottle - a typical porter, dark body and tan head, the latter holding up pretty well. The nose is smoky coffee and a bit of liqueur, the taste is toasted malts, bit of toast, little fruit in the finish. Not bad, and it is a decent enough winter ale.

GBBF. Hazy dark brown beer, residual tan head. Light dry palate. Tangy dark malts - porter like or oyster stout like. Dry finish. Okay.

Cask@Market Porter, London. Orangeish amber colour with a small white head. Atroma is fruity, nectary and quite floral as well. Mild toffee and some wooden notes as well. Flavour is rather similar in a nice balance. Nice nectary and wooden sweetish aftertaste.

Cask at GBBF 2012. It pours deep murky brown, with no head. The nose is roasted malt, filter coffee, wood and a touch of chocolate. The taste is filter coffee, raisin, currant, roasted malt, leather, subtle spice and light sourness, with a dry finish. Light-medium body and no carbonation. Pretty easy drinking stuff.

Cask @ Cloisters, Edinburgh 070812
Deep golden amber, clear, thin off white head
Aroma - sweet light caramel malts, some orangey malts, not very hoppy
Taste - Viscous sweet sweet pale caramel malts, some orange citrus, barley sugars, some bitter zesty hops but sweet scorched caramel malts cramping the hops
Palate - soft carb, medium body. Viscous sweet quite gloopy malts. Finish of sweet barley sugar caramel malts, soft orangey citrus hop, mainly viscous malts, lingering dryness and bitter hop.
Overall - Too malty, over viscous, bit cloying. Not one of the best examples of the style

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. My notes say ABV is 5.5%, but all references on the web have it as 4.1%. Huge diacetyl bomb. Bad, I couldn’t drink that much of it.
