Bottle at The Cad’s 10 yr Shindig. Thanks to Leighton. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The nose is charred wood, burnt earth, charcoal, ash, cocoa, treacle and some sweet vanilla. The taste is bitter, roasted malts, slick, dark chocolate, oily, tar, gateaux, earth, pepper and warming alcohol. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Slick and rather drinkable for the style. Good.

Tasting at Leighton’s Flat. Growler thanks to our host. Bright clear gold beer, residual white head. Palate is light and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Smooth pale malts. Modest hops - some bitterish floral flavours. Little citric peel. Light finish. Mild bitter linger. Feels a little like a well hopped (noble hop) bitter.

Growler thanks to Leighton. It pours clear golden-amber with a bubbly beige head. The nose is toasty, cereal, grain, honey and mild caramel. The taste is light, toasted cereal, soapy citrus, lemon rind, pepper, grapefruit and grass with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Almost like a bitter! English style IPA for sure. OK.
