Pint: 23rd Dec 2006, served from a handpull in the Crown Inn, Oakengates, Shropshire. Tawny brown with a white head, which stays to end (almost). Nuts, hops and malts all vie with each other to produce a beery, English bitter aroma. Tastes like a good bitter should, fresh, clean and thirstquenching. Bitterness stays in the mouth, this is a very nice beer.

Drank in the Crown Inn, Oakengates, Shropshire 23rd Dec 2006. Handpulled pint into a pint sleeve glass, no head, looked flat and very dark Aroma of cloves and winter herbs mixed with malts and hops. Tasted pretty poor really, nothing exiciting about it worth mentioning. Watery for such a dark beer, no great feel to it. Pity about this beer, because I like their other beers I have tried.

Tasting at Mes and Sims flat. Opaque dark brown beer. Crisp dry palate. Sourish brown malt with some fruit tang. Finishes dry and crisp with a little chocolate coming through and a little spice. Unusual oatmeak stout - no oatmeal smoothness. Decent though.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Hazy amber beer, small off white head. Smooth semi dry palate. Tangy start, almost sour. Underneath is earthy malt with a trace of coffee and a whisper of smoke. The fruit resolves in to sherbet like red fruits. Dry finish. Interesting and tasty beer - wonder if it as is the brewer intended?

cask at standing order derby ...deep brown ... thin tan head ... dark roast malt ... soft toffee malt roast ... smooth toffee ... bit light for a porter ... light cofee ... despite its light and tnhinness i liked this

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours a clear, amber-ruby with a small, creamy, light tan head. Toasty malt aroma, maybe some faint berries. Lightly sweet flavor, herbal bitterness, toast, slight tang. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty bland finish, some tangy and toasty malts and lightly tangy fruits. Nothing special.

Cask-conditioned, also at the Willow Walk, 15/10/2011. Earthy malts, burnt fruits and a bitter finish with a decidedly unpleasant sour edge. Bottom of the barrel stuff in all respects.

Bottle 500ml. [ As Hereford Organic Bitter ].Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, leather, medicine, plastic. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, ACRID. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
