NOT out of production. 16 oz. can from the brewery in Great Barrington, MA. Pours a cloudy amber color with an off white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Not much aroma. Flavors of light caramel malt with a light bitter finish. More bitterness than I expect for the style. Otherwise it's a little weak and generic. Medium body. Okay. Forgettable.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a semi-burnt yellow color with a sly transparency about it. Some carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace. Sly lace
The aroma had some sweet corn, light bready sweetness and a touch of grassy hops.
The flavor was somewhat sweet and dry which ran into the aftertaste in the same sort of way. Finish was somewhat quick, and malty.
The palate was light bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, not bad as a straight up blond ale that you’re not expecting much else to happen. I’d have again preferably with food.

Bottle to English pint glass.
The appearance was a golden bronzed copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Mild messy lace.
The aroma had some sweet biscuits/clean cereal sweet grains, some grassy hops, light earthiness, touch of floral and a little bit of woodiness.
The flavor had the normal malty dryness of an English pale ale coming across clean without diacetyl. Aftertaste was clean biscuits and grassy hops. Finish was the same.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good as an English pale ale. Probably should have had on tap at the brewpub with some of their fish n’ chips

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a dark copper color with a nice looking eggshell white foamy head. Dissipates fairly slow. Some messy stringy lace.
The aroma takes on some cereal notes, some grain / sly sweet biscuit. Then spicy/citrusy bitter to semi-sweet and earthy hops.
The flavor lends a hand to the quaint biscuit maltiness initially, and then the hops seem to leave some dry end bookmarks to make it hard to really pick out any sort of further tastes. Malty aftertaste and dry malty sort of finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionable smooth stroll along my tongue. Some carbonation, and the ABV feels spot on.
Overall, in my opinion, I’d say this was a pretty good ESB worthy of having again.

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a fairly dark burnt orange color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that died off in a slow way. Light lace.
The aroma had some candied fruits, subtle earthy hops, light tobacco, and some sweet herbal qualities. Caramel malts somewhat seem far underneath.
The flavor yields to the malts, somewhat bready to roasty and then those candied fruits with the herbal and earthiness flowing in for some balance. Lingering robust malty aftertaste with a crisp malty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Herbal and earthy tones seem to play against the carbonation for a good normal feel for a Scottish ale.
Overall, without the peatiness, I’d say this was still nice all around. I could have again for me, definitely one for the colder months.

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a transparent brown color with a slowly moving carbonation rising to fill a slowly dissipating foamy/bubbly white/creamy head. Soft stringy lace with some bubbles.
The aroma took sweet caramel and cocoa malts to intertwine with some bready notes, light toast and brown sugar. Sly cherry sweetness.
The flavor copies the aroma pretty much spot on with a crisp bready contour aligning into the aftertaste and then has a quick semi-sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation with the ABV seemingly to play appropriately with the feel - good.
Overall, nicely done old ale that I would have again.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark brown color almost black with a bar pour’s kind of slim white foamy head. Dissipates slow leaving some lace.
The aroma had an estery sweet banana to slight clove-like spice trying to equate with the sweet wheat. Some dark chocolate.
The flavor brings about the dark chocolate rolling over the sweet banana/clove-like esters. Dark chocolate, yes, but also some milk chocolate this time. Wheat bite is there with a decent little chocolatey banana/clove-like aftertaste throwing itself into the finish, fairly quick.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation throws itself against the wheat bite, feels somewhat controlled.
Overall, American Dark Wheat ale or actual Dunkelweizen? Well, it’s good for what it is. Hopefully, American brewers can keep at the true dunkelweizen style and not be taken in by the American Dark wheat, maybe some day. Still, I’m rooting for them. This isn’t bad either, just saying.

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a ruddy dark brown close to black color with a thin finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated at an even pace. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma had a little bit of dough, roasty coffee beans, burnt sugars, then toast, and then chocolate malts. Some dark fruits.
The flavor definitely leans towards the sweet side initially and then takes in the dark fruits smoothly to underscore the aftertaste and then ends up crisping the finish in a delicately sly bready sort of way.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation felt fine. Fairly smooth on the tongue.
Overall, not a bad porter, seems to definitely lean towards the English side.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a burnt rugged orange color close to brown with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma had malty tones of caramel, toffee and mild chocolate. Grassy to earthy hops with a light tobacco leafy rawness. Subtle floral hops.
The flavor takes all of those previously mentioned aromas to blend and adds a touch of spice. Lingering bready aftertaste with a mild finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. ABV felt fine. Malts seem appropriate as they don’t leave any stickiness on my tongue.
Overall, good ESB worthy of having again. Pass the fish n’chips.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy burnt amber color with a fair cap of a little white head. Dies off at a mild pace leaving some light speckled lace.
The aroma had some nutty, caramel and toffee malts playing with some grassy sweet hops. Light earthiness, and a tad of herbal qualities to it.
The flavor combines the malts with the the hops gently. Leaves a bready caramel malty aftertaste. Quick malty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. ABV seemed appropriate.
Overall, amber ale with a British ale yeast? I’m left scratching my beard but I do know Barrington likes their British ale yeasts, I wouldn’t put it past them. Perhaps again.
