Description
Raphaël Mettler and his team have been brewing beer with a passion since 2003, and their enthusiasm is eminently contagious: the Trois Dames beers from Ste-Croix challenge the taste buds and flatter the eye, and that is exactly what makes them original. We believe in making a top-notch product, the reason why we carefully select fresh ingredients.

Tap Vaud brewery no.1 Swiss no.5 Pours hay gold. Sourish. Certainly does not feel like Farmhouse, more leaning towards wild ale. Still nice.

Very hazy and chunky amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head that fades quickly and leaves nothing on top. Aroma of metal, malt, grass and a lot of very funky, soured and bretty notes with some lactobilly notes and a dash of flowers towards the end, but the malts and oakiness drive the nose on this one. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong rich caramelised sugars and light toffee notes dominate here at first, but the bretty and soured funky notes come right behind with a lot of lemon and subdued fruit notes that are here as well including some stone fruits and a dry grainy finish. Aftertaste shows the sourness and especially the funky notes here with oak and cedar here as well, but the lemons and oranges come out as well, along with some good malt backbone characteristics and some nice sweetness at the end. Overall, an interesting and complex beer that hits the mark nicely and is odd, but works out nicely, especially after a hot day here in our nation's (not Suisse!) capital! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Leuken's Liqour in Dunedin, Florida on 14-April-2019 for US$5,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 23-August-2022.

Super murky, hazy and light amber coloured body with a copper glow and almost no head at all to speak of, but the haze is a funky, odd and not-pleasant looking glow to a copper body with about 70 per cent opacity here. Aroma of soured, yeastie, bready and funky tart malt note with some light grape scents, a dash of flowers and grass along with hay, barnyardie and funky saison-like elements with a good deal of sweetness noticeable in the nose, especially at the end. Medium-bodied; Pretty crisp and soured, funky and definitely off-wheated malt notes dominate with a lot of soured grapes and odd bread-like flavours without too much else, aside from a grassy and herbal like perfume with some light sweetness on the end and a dash of alcohol here. Aftertaste is definitely swaying toward the funky, soured and tart malt and yeast notes without much else aside from a light grapey sweetness and a dash of flowers here. Overall, a pretty poor offering with some funky grape and especially yeast/bready components, but perhaps this one is past it's prime, but seems pretty indicative of the brewery, given the others I've had from them, while local in Suisse. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Leuken's Liqours in Dunedin, Florida on 14-April-2019 for US$5,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 01-June-2022, just over three years later.
