Description
Tatamagouche's very own organic craft brewery!
Many years ago, a two-headed calf came to Tatamagouche. We think it's no coincidence that he happened to show up here. After all, Tatamagouche is a place of many strange and wonderful things. It's a little town with big ideas. A town that's always looking forward while still keeping an eye on the past. This two-headed place is our home and it inspired us to make good beer for good people. Beer that just happens to be a mix of the traditional and the unexpected.
We are the Tatamagouche Brewing Company.
Let's raise a glass to Pure Tatamagoodness.

473mL can, pours a lightly hazed copper golden with a medium white head. Aroma has some orange marmalade, citrusy hops, and some bready malt. Flavour is bright, with plenty of orange marmalade, gentle citrus hoppy bitterness, and a firm enough bready malt base. Finishes reasonably crisp, lightly bitter, with plenty of orange marmalade. It’s okay.

On tap at Battery Park. Pours murky yellow with a white head. Brett, cracker malts, and a bit spicy on the nose. Flavour has a dry Brett character, crisp malts, gentle sourness, a touch of citrus. Very well-balanced; nice.

473mL can. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Citrus, pine, lime, and some lactic acid on the nose. Flavour has lime peels, dry pine, gentle acidity, and a light juicy citrus. Not especially complex, but the dry hopping does add a nice layer to the profile; nicely done.

On tap at Stillwell Freehouse. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Gentle malts and grass on the nose. Flavour has stale malts, some old dry caramel, and dry grass. I can't imagine this passes for a proper altbier.

On tap at Battery Park Beer Bar. Pours hazy dull orange with a white head. Tons of funky wild yeast and some vinous notes on the nose. Flavour has a great wild yeast profile, lots of funk. The red wine barrels have imparted a vinous, slightly tannic character, though not particularly prominent. Solid BA sour ale, I'm a fan. Nice to see more of this stuff in NS.

On tap at Battery Park Beer Bar. Pours hazy blonde with a white head. Buttery oak, some Brett, hints of vanilla and coconut on the nose. Flavour has lots of Brett, smooth oak, some of that vanilla-coconut character. Very smooth and drinkable with a nice bit of tartness on the finish. Very nicely done.

A 473ml can from Inverness NSLC. Poured into a pint glass in my room looking out at the sea on Isle Madame. A decent enough pale ale without anything standing out.

5oz cask pour at Stillwell Freehouse. Pours black with large beige head. Roasted malts and coffee on the nose; a bit woody. Flavour is a very watered down version of the nose. Almost flat on the palate. Disappointing.
