Description
Winterlong Brewing Co. was a dream that started in the summer of 2014.

Marko and Meghan Marjanovic had been homebrewing for 10 years, and finally decided to take the risk and start a brewery. They secured a lease, applied for a licence, and ordered brewing equipment during the fall and winter of 2014.

Our philosophy is simple: we brew the beer we want to drink.

Winterlong Brewing Co. is a small, craft brewery. We focus on creating beer that is bold in flavour. Our beer is unfiltered in order to maximize flavour and aroma.

Mooch tasting, courtesy of the gang, can; vintage 2023
Hazy amber colour, not much head. Caramel, a bit too dry for the style, some fruity esters; also, it ends with some unfortunate vegetable bitterness, which becomes almost earthy. Meh.

16oz @ Matt's new place. Appearance: hazy copper with a huge white head. Aroma: citrusy hops, lots of caramel, some caramel. Taste: along the same lines, medium body, almost no sweetness. Overall: it's weird for the style.

473mL can, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, big caramel, and some brown sugar. Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of bitter resinous hops, toffee, and brown sugar. Very bitter, centring on the bittering hops, with a more subdued hop note. Rather harshly bitter, despite some nice maltiness underneath. Needs some work.

2023 can. Golden-amber colour. Not getting much head on this. On the nose, raisiny, estery, nice toffee malts. On the palate, it's got a nice sweet fruity character, countered by a fair bit of hop bitterness. Finishes bitter, with a bit of alcohol. Almost gets too estery for me, but it's pretty good.

Poured from 473mL can (2022 vintage). Lightly hazed amber orange with full beige head. Nose has lots of raisin with a bit of oak, quite nice. Taste does have a feint phenolic note with some decent oak. Maybe the next vintage will be better, has good potential.
