From the box at the Alma. Pours a clear, pale yellow. Great rich apple nose, some candied sugar. Very dank flavor, quite dry, not too sweet, some grass and (oddly) very faint apples. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Bone dry finish, weak apple presence, now real booze. So so.

Plastic barrel at Planet Thanet 2011. It pours very pale straw yellow, with no carbonation or head. The nose is cheese, super-funky farmyard, lime, yeast, peach and subtle whisky. The taste is sweet Cox apple, chamomile, lemon, well hidden alcohol and cinnamon. It has initial lip-smacking sourness, which smoothes out to sweet apple and leaves the mouth numb. Very light, crisp and smooth. Really well balanced and drinkable.

From a plastic barrel at Planet Thanet Beer Festival 2011. It pours slightly hazy straw yellow, with no head or carbonation. The nose is lemon, lime, sour apple, farmyard and chamomile. The taste is lemon, lime, grapefruit, Granny Smith apple, melon and farmyard, with a sharp sour-dry finish. A quality cider.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden cider with some bubbles on top. Barnyardish nose with apples and a hint of brett and wood. Medium body, still and tart. Apples and orchard. Lasting tartness and apples. A pleasant one indeed, a bit rough on the nose maybe, but it’s tasteful and quenching. 110130

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head. The aroma is rather unusual, apples of course, but with a pleasant lightly smoked booze touch. A bit heavy on the carbonation, medium body and dry. Quenching, tasteful and pleasantly warming in the mouth, the whisky casks have certainly made a change. Strange, but I like it. 110129

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear one, pale golden in color. Lots of apples on the nose, but a bit dull maybe. Slightly toffee-ish. The flavor is more clean, apples and more apples, medium bodied and semi-dry. Nice sourish apple-finish. A cider that drinks well, quenches the thirst and tastes nice as well, but doesn’t impress. 110128

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It pours a clear, golden color without any bubbles or head. Lots of apples on the nose, with both cores and orchard, a bit sweetish though. It’s a bit rough on the palate, although smooth. Medium body, dry. The flavor has mostly apples, some sourness too. Sour apples in the end. Well, it starts nice, but the flavor isn’t at the same level as the aroma. 110128
