Canned at RBESG ’07. Dark brown. Sweet and fruity with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Roasty malt gives me coffee and butter, there’s notes of apples before a carefully bitter finish. Quite good!

Bouteille 1L (LCBO). De couleur noire brune très foncée et transparente. Nez de grains de malt rôti, moyen de café, léger de plastique brûlé et de fumée de tabac ainsi qu’avec des petites notes de chocolat noir et des traces de vanille. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement crémeuse et aqueuse. Léger goût de fumée de tabac (traces boisées) et de vanille avec des notes de plastique brûlé ainsi que des traces chocolat au lait et de crème (faibles notes lactiques) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût moyennement amer de malt rôti (doux mais aux notes brûlées) accompagné de petites notes de chocolat noir puis en finale l’on retrouve un goût de café moka asséchant ainsi que des notes de houblon herbeux et terreux. Post-goût moyen-long et sec, moyennement amer de rôti / brûlé, de café avec des notes de chocolat noir et de houblon herbeux ainsi que des traces de tabac

A lightly hazed golden ale with a thick white froathy head. Light sweet aroma of grape cool-aid and soap. In mouth, a crisp malt with light lactic acids, faint signs of infection, a bit astringent, and short in mouth. A tad unpleasant. 500 ml can from LCBO, probably 3 months old.

Can: Poured a light yellow color ale with a medium bubbly white head with OK retention. Aroma of corn and adjunct is quite intense and not expected. Taste also remind me of adjunct and macro beers. Body I light as expected and carbonation is well. I was expecting something way getter then this after having tried and enjoyed their dark ale.

Canette, 500 ml, purchased on March 7 2006; eye: dark brown with burgundy and some golden reflections, coffee head that disappears rapidly, no lacing, no ’effervescence; nose: roasted malt, a bit of vanilla; mouth: roasted malt right at the start followed by a rapid decline in flavors, becomes watery, finale of roasted malt and bitterness with a little hint of acridness and a hint of caramel, lighlty swee, moderately bitter, light body, nice carbonation; overall: disappointing after providing such a nice look FRANÇAIS Canette, 500 ml, acheté le 7 mars 2006; oeil : brune foncée, reflets bourgognes et dorés, mousse de couleur café qui s’affaisse rapidement, pas de dentelle, pas d’effervescence; nez : malt rôti, un peu de vanille; bouche : malt rôti au début, baisse appréciable des saveurs, devient aqueuse, finale en torréfaction et amertume avec une petite pointe âcre puis une pointe de caramel, légèrement sucrée, moyennement amère, corps léger, bonne carbonatation; en résumé : décevante lorsqu’on regarde plus loin que la robe

Bottle: Poured a clear dark color ale with nice foamy dark brown head with good retention. Aroma of English malt with floral undertone is easily distinguishable. Taste is very refreshing wit a good roasted malt presence and a bitter finish with a good balance of what seems like English hops. Body is a bit thin but overall this is a very enjoyable drink.

Thanks to a friend who brought it from Canada. Thick, fluffy tan(ish) head, dissipates at a medium pace. Extremely dark red/brown. Brown ale ? Maybe. Dunkel like. Malty aroma, nothing special, but nothing bad. The flavor consists of liquorice, caramel malts and nothing much else, simple but nice. Easy drinking.

This Ale pours a black colour with a tan frothy head. First scents are a little metallic with a scent of dark malt. A little bit of molasass too. First sip is smooth and has a definate molassass taste. Quite smooth but a little watery. Very roasted palate, similar to a weak stout. All in all a good beer.

2005, I assume, pub can from Sammy, thanks! Orange-amber-brown with a beige head, which is well retained leading to questions of whether there is a widget in there (there isnt). Quite creamy and lasts atop the beer at couple centimeters through most of the glass. No lacing, however. Smells foremost of light caramel, hazelnuts and mineral water, with some notes of anise and light yeast as well. Flavor begins with toffee, biscuits and a simple caramel-additive-like sugar. Citrus and cardboard mix for the finale. Watery to the max. Plant stalks, some earthiness that I wouldnt quite call roast. Tobacco ash mixed in to water on the end, as well, as it gets rather dirty. Forced carbonated mouthfeel, with just tons of wateriness, I must reiterate. Some sweet cherries and toffee linger on the aftertaste.

Amber-brown colour. Slightly toasty aroma. Flavour is toasty, chocolatey. It’s a little thin but tastes fine enough.
