Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival 2018. Cask @ White Hart, Todmorden. Golden with a head. It’s a tangy lager styled ale which is mildly spiced. Has a hint of fruit.

9/4/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers! Pours clear amber bronze with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, nutty, fruity, toffee and a little earthy. Slightly metallic too. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Not much depth. Quite typical Christmas themed beer.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown with dark red edges, head was a beige. Aroma is sweet toffee and caramel malt. Taste is caramel, tobacco leaf, sweet malts in finish.

Cask at Nags Head. Half-pint shared with Finn. Clear amber-gold body, film-type layer leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Modest smell of ripe fruits and herbal hops. Malt-fruity flavours, hints of caramel and ripe fruits. Drying end with discreet bitterness. Accepted. (Great Malvern 01.02.2020).

19/2/2020. Cask at the Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. Pours amber with a bubbly white head. Aroma of citrus, malt, hops, berries and caramel. Moderate sweetness and bitterness with light tartness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, soft carbonation. What is it with these rugby themed beers?? I don’t think I’ve ever had a good one.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours an almost clear copper brown colour with a thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, floral and bread. Taste has more caramel, toffee, floral and bread notes with added nuts and apples. Thinnish body with a smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel. Nice bittersweet malty and hoppy finish. Well balanced. Nice beer

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a clear dark mahogany colour with a thin creamy beige head. Aromas of dark fruit, caramel, toffee and burnt bread. Taste is the same notes with some roasted malts, light chocolate, nuts and a lingering hop bitterness on the finish. Light to medium bodied with a very slight oily mouthfeel. Not bad.

Bottle bought whilst on a visit to Somerset. Poured amber with an average sized off-white head. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. Ok.

Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slightly oily texture, soft carbonation. Best of the Cotleigh beers I've had.
