Description
Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of many years of travel and insight—of experience and education—of friendships and explorations. The brewery is the revival and continuation of 220 years of Hill heritage and hand crafted history in North Greensboro, Vermont. Its logo is retrieved from a sign that once hung in Aaron Hill's (our great(x3) grandfather) tavern, just up the hill, in the early 1800s.

Big thanks to Kan for sharing this! Poured a cloudy near black with a brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had dark grain, slight smoke and a strong pine note with a bit of backing dry wine. Flavor started with dark grains which was joined by a pine note with a bit of smoke and dryness coming out in the finish.

Growler at the Funky 6. Pours cloudy gold with a moderate, white head. Lemon zest aroma with notes of Belgian yeast and bready malts. Nice citrus, bread and honey sweetness, with some light earthy bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Dry finish, with further lemon and cereal. Very nice. (First rated August 2010, score: 3.8)

Had a bottle on 25 September 2015 and thought it was pretty damn good. Bumping the rating up to 4.0.

Aroma has a nice combination of smoked meat (ham) with a bourbon note and backing roasted dark grains. 50cl bottle pours a watery, opaque brown with one ring of tan head. HUGE smokey aroma, bacon, charcoal, wood chips, smelled a little sweeter than the Cab barrel. Flavor is sweet, sugary, a touch smokier than the Cab barrel, bacon, toasted grains, more brown sugar. Full bodied, smokey finish with a touch of booze in the back of the throat. A little more balance, diversity of flavor. Marginally better than the Cab barrel.
