650 ml bottle. Pours a deep red/brown with moderate head. Aromas of sugary syrup, caramel, dill, and sweet malts. Flavors of caramel, light licorice, a little dill (is there sorachi in there?) and bready malts. A bit of heat and alcohol both up front and in the finish.

Draught, St. Augustine’s. Hazy light amber-brown. Thin head. Woodsy hop aroma, body is a bit thin, hops woody with moderate bitterness. Hoppy amber like the original. That type of beer wasn’t particularly dynamic at the time and today it is downright anachronistic.

On tap at St. Augustine’s. Chestnut. Thin head. Very toasty, touch nutty, and a dash of malty sweetness.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out bourbon barrels, cloying sweetness and spicy rye - kind of messy. Flavour brings out an unmistakable infection, with lots of sourness. The woody barrel notes are present but in sour form. No way this can be what was intended. Quite bad.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours an opaque cloudy pink / peach with nearly no head. Nose brings out notes of cranberries upfront, with a touch of apple. Flavour brings out lots of the cranberries upfront, with Belgian yeast and maybe a touch of apple skins. Decent balance but not overly complex or thrilling. Okay.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours near-black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and dry cocoa. Flavour is dry, with powdery unsweetened cocoa and toasted malt. Well-constructed beer - easy to drink. Solid.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is subtle, with toasted malt. Flavour brings out metallic toasted malt notes and an unpleasant astringency on the finish. Four beers by Snipes Mountain tonight that've seemed off - something is wrong here. This isn't good.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a cloud murky orange with a tiny white head. Aroma brings out fruity esters and some muddy yeast. Flavour is about the same, with notes of apples, weird muffled yeast, and candied sugar. Not a fan of saison a like this. Too fruity and sweet. Not a disaster though.
