Mahogany coloured with a beige head and a light fizz. Sweet black coffee, fake chocolate flavour, some dusty wood. A light roasty bitterness and some rosemary in the aftertaste. It's ok, but sadly I'm finishing on the worst of the 3 fest beers I've tried today.

Half-pint, cask ale at The White Swan (JDW) in Islington. Shared with AaFK. Clear amber-gold body, tiny white head, scattered lacing. Moderate smell of mid-sweet herbal hops and pale malts. The taste profile brings hints of oily hops and mandarin. Mid-dry ending, bittersweet moments. Decent (London, 02.03.2026).

Half pint, cask ale at Sir Alexander Flemming (JDW) a few days before the festival. Next-to-clear amber-gold body, fair white head leaving dotted spots on the glass. Quite promising smell of lightly spiced fruity hops, mid-sweet. Caramel-fruity taste with moments of ripe orange and mild mid-sweet malts, hints of spices. Bittersweet tail. Good drinking after my JDW traditional breakfast (Paddington Basin, London 01.03.2026).

Cask at the West Quay JDW, Brighton. Poured a clear yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is floral citrus hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, fresh, light citrus, light pepper spice, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
