Description
As of August 15, 2022 under new management! Temporarily brewed in Bury, Manchester.
Weird Beard Brew Co. consists of a small team of people, wildly passionate about beer.
We make what we love and we love what we make, brewing all types of beers from hoppy session IPAs to bold imperial stouts and we're partial to experimenting within and around styles. We won't hold back! Because we can brew what we want, when we want, we make sure that we're putting out beers we are proud of.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Bottle Apostle. Pours lightly unclear copper-gold with a small, foamy white head. Light to medium sweet flavour with a good dose of funk, ripe berries, a little Band-Aid, mellow acetic bite, some citric tartness. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light warmth in the finish, more tangy berries, musty funk, mellow dryness. Interesting stuff overall. I can't say I quite see the point in an 8% blueberry-bretted brut (in a 660ml bottle no less) but it was relatively enjoyable.

Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Pours hazy black with a stable, small, foamy, beige head. Aroma of brambleberry, blackcurrant, black tea, liquorice, chocolate powder, (blood) orange peel, pepper, prune. Taste has sour prune, blackcurrant & coffee bean, sweetish chocolate & brown bread with a herbal edge of liquorice. PIney hoppy finish, bit earthy, lingering dried dark fruits & black tea, tart & lemony in the very end. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Weird, hard to pin down, edging towards Sour Porter / Oud Bruin.

Bottle from Deconinck. Pours hazy black with a huge, slowly diminishing, beige head. Aroma of cold coffee, chicory, wet earth, prune, cream, biscuit, walnut, pistachio. Taste has sweetish prune, nuts & cream, bitter core of coffee nibs & dark chocolate, quite earthy but with sourish fruit aspects underneath. Herbal-earthy hoppy finish, lots of coffee, toast & a subtle dash of cream. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Good but I prefer a stronger variant.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Bottle Apostle, South Hackney. Pours black-brown with a dense, frothy beige head. Very nice CDA, moderate sweetness, restrained roast, just a nip of ash, notes of grapefruit, burnt pine, a hint of cocoa, grape. Medium bodied with active, massaging carbonation. Subtle warmth in the finish, further citrus fruits, tangerine, grapefruit, mellow toasted pine and roasted malts. Solid.

Bottle from Geers. Pours cloudy black with a lasting, thick, foamy, beige head; some lacing. Aroma of toast, tobacco, rye & brown bread, coffee roast, fondant, earth. Taste has sweetish dried fruit, sweetened dark chocolate & nuts, revolving around a bitter core of toast, rye, earth with an umami accent. Dry, toasty finish, earthy hops blending with the rye & and ashy tobacco aspect, tad spicy even (sarsaparilla I suspect), slightest hint of whisky alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. It doesn't always have to be a sweet Imperial Stout, this one does that job well.
