Ise Kadoya Junbaku Ginjo IPA Sake yeast IPA 6% Pale straw gold with fizzy white foam and a sweetly tropical hop bouquet. Medium bodied with a dry finish. The taste starts off hoppy and sweet then gives you some spicy earthy sake like notes at times but this is solidly an IPA. The beer seems different from earlier ratings. It’s a nice evolution of that Japanese beer style: sake-beer hybrids.

Ise Kadoya Sailing Day NZ IPA 7% Orange gold with thick off-white foam that lasts a long time. It’s got a tutti-frutti tropical hop bouquet. Medium to full bodied with a slightly raspy carbonation. The taste is fruity but bitter. Papaya and mango then woodsy bitterness with sweet tart notes. It has a bitter orange rind element in the finish/aftertaste. Fun beer with unexpected layers to it.

Ise Kadoya Torikoro DDH Oat Cream Hazy DIPA 8% I saw this written as Tricoro on Untappd but I’m just going to follow the katakana spelling. I don’t feel 8% is really a double IPA as I think that’s still the upper edge of a regular IPA… Anyways, it’s a golden OJ yellow looking pour with white foam and a sharp orange julep, peach and strawberry aroma but that might be subliminal suggestions from the label. Full bodied with a prickly carbonation and a touch of boozy heat which feels like a double IPA. The taste is similarly amped up and out of balanced big bold boozy hoppy tropical fruits, orange and peach/strawberry blend with guava and a bit of green herbal notes in the aftertaste. Decent beer but to me it’s got too much heat. I want a hazy to go down smooth and juicy.

(Bottle) Pours cloudy amber with small white head. Lovely aroma with heaps of fruit and hints of spice. Medium body with mouth filling carbonation. Full and interesting taste. Again plenty of juicy fruit. There’s also a fair punch of hoppy bitterness. There’s some peppery spice and some light caramel in the background. Full on and enjoyable drinking.

Ise Kadoya Marchen Parade White IPA 6% This beer has a soft matte light gold with a thick fizzy white foam which doesn’t linger. The aroma is spicy white pepper and wheat over a sweet citrusy orange base. Medium to full bodied with a very dry carbonic bite and raspy abrasive prickly mouthfeel. Apparently, this beer uses the Kadoya-1 yeast strain which gives it a somewhat spicy Belgian feel. The taste matches the aroma quite well and really features the wheat and spicy notes. Nice beer.

Tap at Komachi. Hazy bright gold. Spicy nose, apple and grapefruit. Crackery malt. Spicy, tangy, malty and hoppy. Notes of dried apricots come in later. Nice hoppy saison.

Ise Kadoya x Namachan Brewing Nama Smoke Oyster Stout 5% 15 IBU Deep inky black but with virtually no foam and a big rich schlenkerla evoking smokiness. The taste started off with peat smoke notes but then you get a nice slightly roasty chocolate stout flavor. I’m really digging this well balanced and put together smoked beer.

I had a very different experience from KL. Bottle at home. Ise Kadoya x Black Tide Roas Coast Hazy IPA 7% It poured a nice hazy orange color with dense off-white, almost beige foam which lasted a goodly amount of time plus left solid Belgian lace behind. To me the aroma was pure black tide hazy juicy tropicality, guava, mango, prickly pear and an underlying sweet tart element. Medium to full bodied with a bit of a prickly carbonation. The taste gave me sharply sweet orange Julius candied citrus as well as big juicy flavors. I definitely get the feeling black tide ran the show in terms of the hop bill. I’m really finding this to be one of the better hazies I’ve had from Ise Kadoya in awhile, I also had no idea it was a Black Tide collaboration at first.
