Thanks to my friend Andre for this one, from the brewery. Pours a cloudy deep amber colour with a warm cap, decent retention and some lacing. Fruity malt nose with soft raisins and oranges. Medium-light wet mouthfeel. Watery malts with the hops saving things with nice bitterness over the light fruits. Not like an English bitter, but session-like with the hops creating an American bitter style.

On tap at Bar Volo, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, resinous hops and pine. Flavour is a very nice hybrid of Belgian and American IPA, with Belgian yeast and piney hops. Super smooth and well-balanced, finishing dry and piney. Excellent stuff.

This comes together very well. I guess it’s because they added fresh IPA together with the bourbon aged batch to retain the hoppy freshness with a little barrel. It also works to keep the barrel from overpowering the beer. Pours orange with good head and lacing, a bitter finish. Some citrus and pine. Awesome. Tap at Winterbrewed.

Barrel is very prominent here. Probably too powerful for a lighter stout and it just takes over the beer. Black pour with great head and lacing. Big whiskey smell with some roast in the background. Finish rather sour with some bitterness. Thick consistency. Sampled at the Winterbrewed festival in Ottawa.

Nice, well integrated variation. Pours black without much head or lacing. Big coffee aroma with light dark chocolate and some roasty malt. And the vanilla, of course. Bitter finish, thick pour. Cask sampled at the Winterbrewed festival in Ottawa.
