Hazy pale golden with a white head - Sour aroma that has something off, not good in it - No good flavours that has sourness in it - No good finish - This was just a foul bad tasting beer

My first Christmas beer of the season is from the highly regarded La Brasserie du Mont Saleve in France. Their Biere de Noël is a 7.2% hoppy pale ale (IPA?). I got it on sale at Cave a Bulles in Paris and just noticed the best before date was 5 days ago so figured I should crack it open. It looks beautiful, a lightly opaque honey gold with a light beige head that leaves a soapy type of belgian lace behind. The nose is fantastic, huge pine with mild spice & sweet malt notes. While it is pine it is the full spectrum of pineyness: earthy, woodsy, bright green pine needles, etc. For something brewed last year it’s held up very well. Med-full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is unexpectedly sweet, fruity & Rich with a mild hop bite in the finish. Candied fruit, fruitcake, marmalade & ashey, earthy pine. Good but I suspect it’d be even better fresh. It’s also an unexpected style for a Christmas beer. I hope to try more Mont Saleve again in the future.

Weicher, herb malziger Antrunk. Passend trocken, etwas bitter, rund. Mild, insgesamt süffig aber wenig spannend. 9/9/10/9/9/9

Sehr dunkel braune Farbe, geringe bräunliche schaumkrone. Geruch schokoladig, röstmalzig, Kakao. Geschmack mild röstmalzig, Karamell, Vanille, Schokolade.
