Description

On tap at Haand Festival. Unclear, yellow body under a small, dense, white head. Sweaty socks, cheese doodles, lemon peel and some grainy malts in the aroma. There’s a light bitterness in the flavor, with resins, pine cones, lemon and that same unpleasant, sweaty maltyness found in the aroma. Dry, thin and nicely carbonated, and with a lasting finish. Well, what can I say. Perhaps I’m being too nice awarding a 1.4 score, perhaps I’m just being polite, but I can’t go any higher. Maybe it’s the mix of hops and berliner weisse that does it, maybe something else. It sure weren’t any good. 150530

Bottle, at Haand Festival. A dense off-white head sits on top of an unclear, golden body. Fruity nose with pine cones, resin and a malty touch. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, dealing easily with the little malty sweetness. Resiny, piney hops and a good fruityness too in the flavor. Rather dry on the palate, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Lasting fruity, bitter and dry finish. A tasteful and refreshing beer I wouldn’t mind repeating. 150529

I had no idea myrtille were blueberries, in Quebec we say Bleuets. On tap at the Trois 8 Biergarten. A brown that evokes thoughts of prune juice. The nose is chocolate fudge with a herbal edge. The taste is really interesting: chocolate and a tangy herbalness with a fresh minty finish. I guess that is the myrtilles. A bit odd on a summer day but definitely an original beer! Nothing evoked blueberries, I thought myrtille was some kind of herb... Good but from the best new French brewery of 2014 I was expecting more.

Small bubbly shortlasting head, very hazy. Aroma is strange fruity, grape, cheese doodles, grass, weeds, hay. Taste is slightly strange sour-ish, weeds, paper, sour grass, hay, cheese doodles, bark. Little bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Meh!
