(Cask at Dean Swift, Tower Bridge, London, 23 April 2016) Amber colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, bread and toffee. Malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of caramel, toast, citrus and a balanced, slightly metallic bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced bitter. Quite nice.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - deep amber tored with a nice head. Lovely tight bubbles. Nose - creamy toffee. Taste - loads of caramel and toffee. The malt at the back is a bit astringent. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. A touch astringent but decent. Overall - interesting and solid

33cl bottle at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. An unattractive hazy amber pour with a scummy cream head; aroma of tropical fruit and rye bread; a smooth and grainy body with lots of hops, but unfortunately a conflict between the fruity ones and the resinous ones that doesn’t resolve itself in a good way; this fight is followed by a pleasant, dry and bitter grapefruit finish. It’s nice to see West Berks try this style of beer, but unfortunately it doesn’t quite work for me.

Keg at the Queens Head, Reading. Deep gold with a large white head and a light fizz. Light pine and citrus set against a light caramel background. So, pretty mild whilst drinking, but pleasantly clean and crisp in the finish leaving a nice sweet pine aftertaste. The finish makes this better than it would otherwise be.
