Description
Started brewing as West Berkshire Brewery at the Pot Kiln, Frilsham, Yattendon.
We create well-balanced and flavourful beers. Employing traditional techniques and championing British ingredients, we have a range of beers and styles that showcase the very best of British beer. We have won over 45 awards since we started brewing in 1995.

In 2021 the brewery was rescued from administration by Yattendon Estates and the name was changed to Renegade Brewery.

Cask @ The Black Griffin, Canterbury. Pours amber with bubbly head. Aroma is nutty malt. Taste follows. Unremarkable boring brown bitter.

Dark brown, cleat, off white head
Aroma of caramel, soft dark fruits, slight hint of chocolate?
Taste - Dark caramel, some toasty malts, soft dark fruits, bit spicy, dab of bitter earthy hops
Palate - Medium carb and body, soft sweet, light bitter. Finish of caramel, raisin, toasted malt
Overall - Old fashioned ale - not bad at all

Bottle. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of nuts, fruit cake and tea. Flavour of caramel, tea and weak grain. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Fairly well balanced, but it’s quite light on flavour.

Cask at the Hope Tap, JDW - Reading. Pours clear copper with a thick, lasting khaki cream head. The aroma holds toasty bread, dried berries and a little toffee. Light-medium sweet flavorbwith hints of grape, more berries, bread, faint earth and toffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Sweet finish, with further bready malts, light caramel, ripe berries, plum. Good and drinkable.

Cask at the Alehouse - Reading. Pours deep brown-black with a thick, foamy beige head. Toasted dark sugars in the nose, some cocoa, dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor, a little sugary, with more dark fruits, plum, raisin, bread, chocolate. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Sweet finish with prominent dark malts, ripe dark fruits, berries, rich bread, mellow cocoa, ash. Nice mild.

Cask at the Haymarket. Pours clear dark amber with a thick white head. Aromas of spice, dried fruit, burnt toffee. Taste is sweet, more dried fruit. Dries out nicely on the finish.

Draught. Aroma is quite much nuts, roasted malt, a bit of coffee. Light bitterness. Smooth. Very good.

Tried at the Three Stags, Bebbington. Amber colour with an off white head. Aroma is fruity malt, taste mainly bitter with a decent bitter finish. Nice for a rugby special.

Wakefield Beer Festival 2015. Copper-amber coloured. Bitter with a very light toffee sweetness. There’s some of this in its aroma too.
