Cask at the Bath House, Cambridge. Dark golden brown, slightly hazy. Malt, peaches and freshly baked bread in the aroma. The taste is a heavy bittersweet. It’s a bit cumbersome and doesn’t wear the alcohol particularly well, causing it to taste stronger than it actually is. Medium thick palate. Ok.

2015 version at the Fox, Hanwell 13/5/2015. Deep, clear amber in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Flabby, sweet, malts, a touch of hedgerow fruit, culminating in a decent, bitter, finish. So so.

50cl bottle from Fielders Farm Shop, Theale. A golden amber pour with a lasting white head; rich malty aroma; smooth malty taste, with some caramel, but not too sweet; and then a spicy bitterness that leaves some pepper in the malty finish. A smooth and elegant bitter, with hopefully many more to follow in West Berks next 20 years.

Gravity pour half-pint at the Stourbridge CAMRA Beer Festival on 18th April 2015. Golden, clear body with a good white topping. Hops all the way here, as the name suggests: fairly bitter with a dry finish, the nose also hop led with a spicy feel to the aroma.

Cask at the Purple Turtle, Reading. Light amber with a moderate white head. Very little to this - just bland with light caramel and dusty, earthy hops. It would have been disappointing were it not for the fact that I have such low expectations of this brewery anyway. To be fair it to them, was brewed for a charity event; maybe they brewed a cheap beer so that it raised more money for the charity?
