Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Light chestnut with a ring of whit head, and good lacing; fruity aroma with some toasted grains in the background; orchard fruit taste with a well toasted malt body; then a sharp fruity bitterness, and a lingering bitter finish. A robust bitter - I hope that other World Cup themed beers are as good as this.

500ml Bottle - Amber with a foamy head. Pine, marmalade, orange peel and hop resins in the aroma. Hoppy, fruity and biscuity taste with orange, aniseed, peach and some floral notes.

Bottle that Dad shared with me, originally from the Grumpy Goat in Reading. A clear golden-amber beer with a small off-white and rather too much fizz. It’s got a spicy whiff, but in the mouth slimy caramel dominates with hints of bitter lemon and herbs. Long lasting bitterness afterwards. Really don’t like the sliminess and the flavours don’t seem to compliment each other that well; yet another West Berks beer that I’m none too fond of.
