at 6% this is bordering on the easy to drink, but maybe too easy that it almost can be a session ale, if the session doesnt go too long. very well balanced, without the sickly sweet malts that seem to be ever-present in english ales, more roasted than sweet malts. very enjoyable.

Originally rated January 2009. It pours a clear caramel colour with a big foamy off-white head, some decent lacing and better than average retention. Beautiful aroma of butterscotch with a touch of hop. A very nice balance between sweet and bitterness. This is also found in the taste. Medium-thin mouthfeel that is not watery, but close (and fits well this brew). Bread and grass are also in the flavour. The sweet scent does disappear fast, as I can not find it anymore. Weird that they call this one an IPA, when it is a bitter. Oh well, like most Greene King products I have had... nothing spectacular, but quite good overall.

Clear copper color, not much head. Similar toffeish-oaky-malty nose than in Innis&Gunn’s beers. Medium-bodied. Flavor has toffee, vanilla, alcohol and woody maltyness. A bit hoppy but more like strong ESB than an IPA. Very similar to Innis&Gunn beers.

500ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a medium head. Aroma is faint, spicy, skunky caramel. Taste is spicy malt to start and a skunky caramel finish.

50cl bottle. Dark amber/brown color with a white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malty with toffee. Flavor is caramel and toffee, nutty and woody. Bit sweet. Finish is short with some caramel. Nice and smooth, enjoyable, have to try this again.

Bottle 500ml. clear glass @ home.ABV: 4.3%. Clear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, toffee (good), bright toffee, moderate hoppy, orange - citrus, dry grass - hay. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, citrus - orange notes, light caramel malt sweet. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110216]

500ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown no head. Aroma is faint, slightly sour caramel. Taste is caramel start, with a raisin and caramel finish. Slightly sour aftertaste.
