Description
At present there are five of us working at the brewery – Luke and Stuart who assist with deliveries and the cleaning and filling of casks. In the office, there’s Julia AKA Fuzzy, who doubles as Droxford’s famous lollipop lady. She keeps all the paperwork in good order which is a good thing because this was a weakness of ours. The Bowman family is of course completed by Ray and myself.
Our beers have evolved over the years into three really popular regular brews and each month we have a 4.5% special on too.

Cask Stillage (Bitter Virtue, Southampton) - Brown in colour. Spicy malt aroma with some nutty hints. Roasted malt taste with some strong nutty (chestnut) elements being noticeable. The finish is roasted with a nutty sweetness. Very tasty and an excellent idea. Also, Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Much the same as before but with the roasted notes being slightly more pronounced and just a hint of vanilla sweetness. I did not try this beer last year (when it first came out) but the recipe has supposedly been modified and the quality has allegedly improved.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 6 Aug 2008) Golden colour with brief, white head. Fruity nose with notes of citrus, caramel and biscuity malt. Fruity taste with citrus (orange, grapefruit) and a generous citrussy hop character in a floral, slightly soapy finish. Nice beer with good hop flavours.

Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 Another very good beer from a very decent brewery and one that was amazingly flavoursome despite the low abv. This beer was named ’Max’ after the unborn child of very good friends of the brewers sadly the unborn baby died six months into the pregnancy, which seems so awfullly sad. The beer itself was as it states copper in colour and with a nice bubbly white head. Good light bitterness and an impressive use of the Cluster hop which I gather is pretty much looked down upon usually. Some lingering lightly tangy fruit and a dryness at the end ensures that this beer has plenty going on for its strength.

Cask, gravity at the Hampshire Bowman, Dundridge, Hampshire 7th June 2008 Pours mid gold with the smallest of white heads, looks pretty good. Quite a zesty, refreshing beer with plenty going on for the strength. Nice soft citrussyness, bitterness nice, has quite a bit of life, taste is very nice, I like this and think it makes a damn good session beer.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 08. Chestnut pale, with thin beige head. Decent choc and malt, some hop. Good in mouth, some depth, a little rubbery on the hop, but overall a decent strong bitter. Bit of Airfix glue on aroma. Decent, but has unattractive elements.
